Alright guys, it's been confirmed to work... im in the middle of doing it now as I copy and paste this from other threads that I seen... I take no credit for this... im just passing on the word
here we go:

"I wanted to keep it clean so I made a new thread, here is how to make the dvd5.

Alright, here is what we got folks. Big ups to gnie, umaxxl, psychospacefish, and everyone that helped on this beast. This is umaxxl's i am just fleshing it out for more people to understand.

END RESULT IS A 3.97 GIG ISO

WHAT YOU NEED

gnie's expert 2 and GOW 2 plugin
apache 2 or 3 (get it here)
pss downsampler (you might need visual basic also)
cd dvdgen 2.0 (get it here)
iml2iso (get it here)
zerofile.dll (quick google search away)

I am extremely tired, ill post links tomorrow.

In the link, there is a rar file called xpert that asks for a password when you try to open it, don't worry about it, get the other xpert file which can be found in the ROGUE.rar

This is how I ripped it. I dummied .psw files (widescreen tv files) to suit my needs. If you have a nice tv, you will be doing exactly what I say but doing it to .pss files instead.

1.Stick the zerofile.dll in you windows-system32 file,and then do to run and copy and paste this "regsvr32.exe /s /c ZeroFile.dll" no quotes. It will be needed later.

2.Open up apache, open the iso, extract everything to a folder on your desktop named GOW (trust me, just do it)

3.With that done, go to start-run-cmd. If your comp is like me, you will need to type "cd desktop" without the quotes to get to desktop. After that, type "cd GOW" to get to that folder. Now type "copy /b part1.pak + part2.pak new-part1.pak" no quotes. This will merge the two pak files. This will take a while, leave the comp alone when it is working.

4.Open up expert2, choose the GOW2 plugin. For big file, choose new-part1.so, and GODOFWAR.TOC for the table file. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE TRUMPENT SOUND OR THINGS WILL GO BAD. Hit extract lba, then when that is done hit extract files.

5.Now open up pssdown. Go through the folder that contains all the extracted .pak data, and select all the .pss files, there are 42. With them all highlighted, drag them into the pssdown box. We will do this three times with the same files.
1.Set the downsample rate at 30%
2.Set the downsample rate at 60%
3.Set the downsample rate at 50%

This is going to take sometime, so take a shot, smoke a cig, do whatever you do best. This will make the .pss files around 800 megs.

6.This is where that zerofile .dll comes in. Now go back to the same folder, and select all .psw files. They are always by its respective pss file. Highlight all 38, right click, then hit the dummy file option.

7.Now open up xpert 2 w/ the GOW2 plugin, same big and table files, and hit rebuild files. You will have a new pak file names new-new-part1.pak. When that is done, hit rebuild lba. See this isnt that bad eh?

8.Go into the GOW folder, and delete the original part1 and part2.pak files, abd new-part1.pak file. With those out of the way, rename new-new-part1.pak to PART1.PAK.

9.Open wordpad, press space once, then save as PART2.PAK If the file is being recognized as a txt file, put the file in a folder, go to tools-folder options-view and uncheck the hide extions on known files box, now you can delete the .txt extension. After you do, retick the box.

10.Delete the GODOFWAR.TOC that you originally extracted with apache, and rename NEW-GODOFWAR.TOC to GODOFWAR.TOC

11.Open up cd dvdgen, choose dvd rom master disk, and put the files in the prog in this order (dont mind the lba crap, i copied and pasted)

12.Open IML2ISO, open the iml you just made, and hit the make iso button. Wait a few minutes, there is your iso! If you did what I said, it will be 3.97 gigs.

13.Burn

i'm currently working on a relink for the widescreen movies. not sure if it's gonna work but then it might not crash if you select widescreen (it _will_ crash if you dummy the widescreen movies and you happen to select widescreen -if you're stupid enough-)

who is gonna waste half a day replying to everyone that they need to get double layer and whatnot.

look some ppl have ps2s that don't play DL for one reason or another (my laser is f*cked so it won't load DL). then these ppl might not be able to buy a new ps2 (these things cost money you know). above all, this game is well worth the trouble for me.

I read the readme before installing the Infinity 1.93 update, and it did mention the configuration menu, but I really just glossed over the menu options and obviously missed the "Enable/Disable DL patch". Haste makes waste, indeed!

However, after turning the DL patch "On" and saving the setting, I tried the non-patched disc that I originally burned, and it STILL didn't work! Bah! Doesn't matter now, anyway. Thanks for the info, though.

As for the Bonus disc, even though it's just behind-the-scenes and making-of material, I'm still interested in seeing it. It's just a normal DVD as far as I can tell, but I couldn't get it to work in any of my DVD-capable machines. Not a significant loss, just curious.

Perhaps I can rent the game and burn the Bonus disc from the original. My local Hollywood Video sometimes rents the bonus discs to movies and games. Of course, given the popularity of this game, it might be a long while before it's available for me to rent, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The Bonus Disk is like MGS3's movie disk; it can only play in a ps2.

I am curious to check out this DVD5 kit. I NEVER thought I would see gnie's name ever again around the PS2. Good to see he is still hanging about.

I got this to work; however I just copied the image over to the HDD and used a custom ELF to boot. All hail Echelon!

i burned the game on verbatim dl on 2.4 speed with toxic patch and it wont load the movie on the great chasm level, after some walking around on the bridge the movei showed up , ps2 had problems with reading it (stopped every 5 seconds) but finnally i am at the fighting scene, there is no music and after making 2 spins with joypad kratos falls down with icarus and there should be next scene, but ps2 can't read it and screen goes blank and 'you are dead' shows up. i wonder if i maybe borrow another ps2 from someone and pass the stage the ps2 will read the rest like it should and if maybe someone could make a mini rip with only this level? (probably impossible) anyone has some idead or links to dvd5 rips? is hydro release realy bad? i wanted to burn it and pas this scene on rip and then play the rest of the game on dvd9

Since ive patched the iso with the toxicpatcher it looks like i aint able to burn it anymore. The process always stops at 50 %. What a waste of Dual Layers

What do you use? Swap Magic? Just want to know if this release works with SM.

do I need to use this toxic patcher if I'm using a crystal chip? I'm unfamiliar with that tool.

ah scratch that, I wonder if you need to patch it with toxic or not, got it ready to burn later toxic patched... dunno if crystal chip needs the toxic patch or not, well I guess someone eventually will say if the game works fine all the way through with crystal chip.

Hi there, im currently using a matrix infinity.
And yes !! That rip seems to work! i dont know where the second layer begins but as far as i read it starts right after the fight with that gigant asshole stonfigure And well... im swimming right now and the game still works

btw. has anyone got an idea why i aint able to burn the (big) iso after patching it with toxic? It always sucks at exactly 50.0 %. I just dont know why :/

ok I just tried this release from DjPelle and first noticed that the ISO was even smaller in size then the down sampled videos ISO.
So I loaded it up, started a new game, and yes, the intro video was indeed very clear and to my liking, way better then the down sampled video ISO version.

But then, I loaded one of my old save points from when I first get the BOW and I have to shoot the arrows at the guy thats caught by the chains to fall into the fire and lil did I know, right when I did that the cut scene that's supposed to to show the guy burning and w/e, instead of showing that cutscene, it showed a diff cut scene from later on into the game when Kratos get's the lightning bolts power from the horses level.

So apparently this release cut some videos and and relinked them with others to keep the good quality videos intact i guess for the more important cut scenes.

I'm sticking with the downsampled version b/c there is no point to play the game and miss cut scenes and let it even show u diff cut scenes to parts ur not up 2 yet.
