Big Question
Does anyone know if you can burn the original god of war 2 game on a dl the same way? or does it have to be the iso ripped file? If there is a way can someone help out on how to do so? I have rented it and before I try experimenting, was hoping someone has some feedback. Thanks!!

i think this can help you guys ,those with a messiah or any clone chip
first get the iso and patch it with toxic
make a dvd file (for using with clonecd ,like xbox360 games)(like gow2.dvd)
the file must have those 2 lines :
LayerBreak=2083424
e-godwr2.iso
and burn it with clonecd
tested and working on chep modchips

Why would the layer break have to be that exact same number?

Those with the messiah chip that freeze at the Great Chasm level, patch the iso with the "Toxic Patcher" then reburn the game. I used the latest version of Nero and now it doesn't freeze at the Great Chasm level anymore. I'll post back if it freezes at any point after, but so far so good! =)

well perhaps all dvd9 ps2 games have the same layer break and that may be the correct number...
Im gonna try dvd9 patched with toxic,
Then create layer break file, burn with clonecd,
Last try to boot with swap magic coder, because i hear later versions support dual layer... wish me luck

With all the freezes happening...Could this be a bad dump?
So was the above layer break specific to e-godwr2.iso?
Because I noticed a previous post mention auto layer break in imgburn.
Just gathering info before I go wasting media...

the freezing part are we talking about the eyes where 1 reflector is from a shield u had to put on the statue and the other is u ? that is where i got stuck using verbatim media. Had a few slowdowns as i was getting to this part. Saving took very long got scared at least save point is right here

Well I just finished the game last night my save time is 10:49. Theres nothing wrong with this iso its perfect. Theres some tearing now and again in-game but I believe this is due to the game pushing the PS2 hw to the max and have seen many other posts asking about it.

I don't know yet if my PS2 can handle the second layer. I patched it with Toxic and burned it with latest Nero. I am now at the beginning of the large temple (After your last flight with the pegasus) and no freezing yet.
But what i did see yesterday was that i couldn't see the Credits. Can anyone else see the Credits from the main screen?
It could be that the Credits are on the second layer and my ps2 can't read it.
So can anyone else try if they see the Credits?

I have installed game without patching it, using hdl_dumb 0.8.5 and booted it fine from hd using a hdloader file I found just for god of war 2 cause the game doesn't work on plain 0.8b version.

Could someone with an original retail version of the game please tell us the exact position of the layer break? It's very easy to check this with ImgBurn.

it seems all 5cent modchips are knocked out.
i recommend a matrix infinity. no need to mess around with toxic shit patcher, which makes the iso freeze. just burn and be happy.

and 1 more thing: this stupid layerbreak thing is useless as shit. the retail disc is parallel track path (ptp) not opt. which means theres is not 1 specific layerbreak like xbox360 games. and because of this, a dvd file is useless too.
so get yr heads out of yr a***.

Hey man calm down, nobody said we don't believe you! You were not giving any information at all in your first post. You didn't say this is the layer break from an original GOW2 game in you first post. You did not say where you got it - nothing. Did you check this yourself, do you own the game? Just to make sure: ImgBurn says Layer 0 Sectors: 2.083.424 when you insert the original GOW2 DVD?

oh well ,that's the layer break from the original game
and i burned it using pionner 111d ,at 2 2.4x
the game didn't work (backup) for the first time without that layer break ,so i made a dvd file and it booted fine
that's my experience with burning this game
